Buyer Overview and Types

Buyers

What a Buyer Is

A Buyer in TrackDrive is the entity that receives a call. In a lead
generation network a buyer is typically a call center or a business
that pays the platform operator for each qualified call. In an
internal call center deployment a buyer is a routing target that
represents a queue, a region, or a team.

A Buyer is owned by a company and carries its own phone number, SIP
endpoint, or other destination, along with all of the rules that
govern when the buyer is allowed to receive calls. Those rules
include caps (how many calls, conversions, or revenue before the
buyer is paused), business hours, concurrency limits, routing
priority, and conversion criteria.

Buyer Types

The buyer type is a setting with three acceptable values:

  • buyer - the default. A normal buyer that receives calls and pays for conversions.
  • quality_assurance - a buyer used for QA review. QA buyers behave differently in reporting and do not generate billable conversions the same way regular buyers do.
  • voice_bot - a synthetic buyer used to bridge calls into the Voice Agent subsystem. See the Voice Agents article for details.

Switching a Buyer to Quality Assurance Destroys Its Conversions

This is a surprising but deliberate behavior. When a buyer's type
is changed to quality_assurance and the record is saved, the system
destroys every conversion record on the buyer. The rationale is that
QA buyers should never carry conversion rules, because their calls
are not paid call flows. If you need to preserve the conversion
rules, duplicate the buyer before flipping the type.

Voice Bot Buyers Are Auto-Generated

You never create a voice_bot buyer by hand through the buyer UI in
the normal course of operations. A Voice Agent automatically creates
one the first time the agent is saved. The buyer's user-facing ID is
set to a value based on the voice agent, its number is set to the
voice agent's SIP URL, and its association points back to the agent.
Voice bot buyers are only available on deployments where the platform
is configured to support them.
